Mission guidelines: environments and tools
With the mission less than a week away, we confirm the technical requirements for all participants. These are not suggestions. They are rules. Maynet thrives in careless environments; we will not give it an opening.
Operating systems
- Linux remains the primary recommendation.
- MacOS or Windows may be used only if no Microsoft applications are installed and no AI services with online connections are active.
- If Windows is unavoidable, use WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) to isolate your work.
Cloud services
- None of the “big five” may be used: Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Meta, or Apple.
- European alternatives are mandatory where cloud is required. Recommended options:
- For version control: Codeberg is the primary choice.
Editors and IDEs
- Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code are not permitted.
- Approved alternatives include:
AI usage
- No online AI tools. If AI is required, it must be run locally, isolated, and preferably air-gapped.
We repeat: Linux + open source remains the safest ground. MacOS or Windows may work, but they are compromises. The mission cannot risk compromise.
